ANIONE results presented by CNRS at CARISMA 2023 | October 2023

Rossana Gentile, researcher and PhD student at CNRS – University of Montpellier, presented ANIONE results during the 7th International Conference on Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells & Electrolysis: Materials, Systems & Applications (CARISMA 2023) which took place in Lefkada, Greece, between 1 – 5 October 2023.

During the poster session, Rossana presented her research, which focused on enhancing anion exchange membranes for water electrolysis applications by incorporating a polymeric nanofiber web into the ionomeric matrix provided by Hydrolite company. Her primary goal was to compare the performance of these composite membranes with their non-reinforced counterparts. The integration of a 3D nanofiber web reinforcement resulted in a substantial improvement in membrane performance. This development enabled the creation of thinner membranes with high conductivity, reduced hydrogen crossover, and improved mechanical properties. Furthermore, the membrane electrode assembly of non-PGM catalysts synthesized at CNR ITAE and the composite membrane showed promising performance in AEMWE.
